Kielbasa & Sauerkraut Recipe

  1. Rinse a 3lb jar of sauerkraut in water. 
  2. Place in pot with cold water just covering the sauerkraut.
  3. Add one teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon pepper and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. 
  4. Cook until done. 
  5. Fry 4 slices of bacon (cut into small pieces) with one medium diced onion until brown.  Put this in sauerkraut.
  6. Then make a roux. 
  7. Put in sk illet, preferably iron, 2 tablespoons flour and stir until lightly brown. 
  8. Add one-cup water to make a gravy. 
  9. Pour gravy over sauerkraut. 
  10. Add one ring smoked kielbasa cut into ¼ inch slices (or whatever size you like) and cook awhile so that flavors may blend.
