Several miracles are ascribed to him. He was canonized by Pope Adrian VI in 1522 and is the patron saint of several other countries.</p>

<p><strong>&#8220;Nicolaus Copernicus&#8221;</strong> is the Latin version of the famous astronomer&#8217;s name which he chose later in his life. The original form of his name was Mikolaj Kopernik or Nicolaus Koppernigk.</p>
